I was exhausted when the symposium was finished. So much information and new ways of thinking about things. I won’t relay summaries of each, but I must say (again) how miraculous it felt to have several Native speakers. We were visible, not just an “AND.” It felt like we were starting at the beginning. The Symposium had a context, provided by Dakota and Ojibwe folks. Pidamaya to the Sawyer Team! And pidamaya to Jim Rock, Sharon Day, Gwen Westerman Wasicuna and to Darlene St. Clair. You will be able to view presentations at http://ias.umn.edu/2015/04/08/sawyer-symposium/. Gratitude to Institute for Advanced Studies and the River Life Program. Staff and planners did a terrific job.
