We offer a slideshow of the Spring All Partner Gathering, 2016. We gathered at the Water Bar Studio immediately enjoying the creative energy of the space. Happy, friendly, informal chat led to continuing the love over food cooked by Jewell Arcoren; bison stew with squash and hominy, vegetarian wild rice casserole and vegan and not so vegan salad….and chocolate! While eating our memorable meal, we tested a Dakota language place names exercise that we want to adapt for Feast of Words events. Even though all Minnesotans speak Dakota, if badly, most Healing Place partners needed help to place Dakota names of cities, rivers and other places. It was fun.
After marking our connections with other Healing Place partners on the web circle graphic we divided into groups. Discussions focused on our individual updates quickly evolved into seeding of new projects, sharing of references and resources, philosophical dialogue, and inspiration.
To end our gathering we did one more language exercise. Noting our evening theme of WATER, Jewell started us out by saying, “MNI” and throwing a ball to a partner in our standing circle. That person had the choice of throwing it back to Jewell saying “Mni” or choosing another target and saying one of the two other water related words (bdote and wahpa). And round and round it went. Occasionally we dropped the ball. We laughed. We learned a few new words of the land. Baby Tilia enjoyed and watched.
Hugs and good wishes filled our leave-taking.
Much gratitude to the planning committee (Jennifer Tonko, Marty Case and Jewell Arcoren), wopida tanka to Jewell for preparing and toting the fabulous food, GREAT thanks to Works Progress, Shanei Matteson and Colin Kloeker for hosting us at their nurturing new space. AND to all who came to the spring all partner gathering.
Looking forward to the next All Partner Gathering…next season? Summer is often difficult, perhaps it will be early fall.
